Tuscany

This post will be a majority pictures, and maybe a few words. Well, knowing me probably more than a few. Getting to be in Tuscany for 4 whole days was better than I imagined. These pictures will give you a glimpse of the beautiful things we saw, and why it stands true that Tuscany really is God’s country. (ok, deep, but really).

I would also like to introduce you to our new friend, Ruth. Shes the bright white smart car in a few of these pics.

The drive up to our bed and breakfast, Poggio Piglia, and the view from the backyard:

This place is run by a sweet Italian family who restored this house about a year ago. The staff was great; really really layed back (sometimes too much). The pool was where I would have spent every day (if I wasn’t with a male).

Day 1: Piensa, Montalchino, Montapulciano
Spent some time walking around Piensa. Ate a delicious lunch. Sped off to a phenomenal wine tour at Poggio Antica (probably one of the nicer wines I’ve ever tasted). Amazing to learn about the production process/meet the people who run it. Got lost in Montalchino and ended up in a field of grapes. Grabbed some pizza at a joint in Montapulciano, and headed home for an early night on the porch.

Our venture to no where began in this alley... and ended with this indescribable view:

Day 2: Siena
Long drive to Siena. Stood in line for the bell tower for an hour and a half and never got to go up. Went to the beautiful Duomo. Ate lunch in a dark back room (see picture). Shopped the streets. Hung in the plaza de Campo and imagined horses running bareback around me (yikes). Headed home for an attempted afternoon by the pool that was interrupted by the continuous thunderstorms. Ate an UNBELIEVABLE meal in Montechiello, a very small castle town, that was recommended to us by our wine tour guide. Restaurant called La Porta, so if your in the area you must go. On the way to dinner we snapped some unbelievable pictures of the sunset. (I would be lying to you if I didn’t tell you that we pulled over on the side of the road multiple times to snap some shots).

Day 3: Cortona
Easy drive to Cortona. Toured the Accademia and lasted about 40 minutes before Stewart and I called it quits due to Etruscan artifact overload. Hung out in the Piazza Republicca. Browsed around some local shops. Ate a delicious lunch at Dardano (recommended by Stewarts mom and grandmother)! Went inside the Duomo (it wasn’t the prettiest we have seen). Checked out the San Francesco church, where there were some neat relics. Grabbed some much needed Gelato. We left a beautiful day in Cortona to lay by the pool, only to be met by rain when we arrived. But hey, I got to nap! Last nights dinner was up there with the night before. Place called La Grotta in Montapulciano, recommended by Ima, the “hotel concierge”. We were actually sitting next to a girl that graduated from Texas who saw Stewarts belt and struck up conversation! Sidenote: im REALLY going to miss complimentary wine and appetizers at every.single.meal. Not too many pictures from this day. Due to my constant chatter about the "beautiful sunflowers," Stewart pulled over and made me go jump in the field with them so I could get a pic :)

The next couple days in Roma and London are going to be jam packed, so a post might not come till im back in Newnan. Ciao peeps!
