I arrived yesterday morning after a long flight, and remained in a strange fog for the rest of the day. I guess that’s what sleep meds will do to you. Regardless, I decided to venture out (alone) to grab a bite to eat in Old Town Square. I think I was a bit too confident in my understanding of Prague from the 24 hours I had spent here 2 years ago. 1. Had no idea where I was going 2. Had no idea how I was planning on communicating with the people around me. My lunch ended in me asking for my check, and the male waiter replying with “check? I’m Czech! Ok lets go!” I quickly paid and darted out of there.
Around 2 Stewart arrived from his 28 hour travel day, and we began our day shortly thereafter! Wasn’t really much of a day, but we wandered the streets around our hotel for a bit, and grabbed a beer from a traditional Czech pub that was having happy hour--Cha-ching! The weather here is UNbelievable. High of around 70 and clear skies. In fact, we had to come back to the hotel today to grab a sweater. Not too shabby for mid-July. Here are some pics from the first afternoon:

**I'm going to go ahead and apologize for the solo shots of myself.. kind of awkward but Stewart isnt a picture guy**
When I was here a couple years ago, some friends and I had dinner on the rooftop terrace of the UPrince hotel. The view was unreal so I thought it would be fun to grab drinks before dinner. Good thing I didn’t suggest dinner because Stewart saw that the menu had pictures on it and just about lost it. ;)

Stewart made a reservation at a nice place on the river called Mlynec for last night’s dinner—this was our view:
Can’t complain. It was awesome and the food even better. SAC got the tasting menu, which came with some fabulous Czech wines. A couple glasses in, he started speaking Spanish to our waiter. There was a lot of “este” “aqui” and “ahora” being thrown around. I had to remind him that we were not in South America. This continued through the night, and on to today—think I’ve finally kicked it.
Woke up this AM with a big day ahead of us. The weather was perfect for a 7 hour day of walking. We headed to the Prague castle which is across the Charles bridge, and got some great views along the way.
Prague is a very touristy town, but it was kind of nice to blend right in. Met some fellow Americans in our many attempts to get pictures together. Not everyone knew how to take pictures, which was frustrating, but we were able to snap a few. The castle is surrounded by 5 gardens, which have all been restored over the years. We stumbled upon one that was kind of a layered garden, and required a LOT of legwork. But hey! This was the reward:

The actual castle wasn’t all that its cracked up to be. Interesting to see, and beautiful architecture, but we weren’t about to spend 3 hours wandering through the museums. These are some pics from the Castle:

Wallenstein Gardens was something I had heard about from multiple people so I was very excited to see. Pretty good looking if you’d ask me. All I wanted to do was take pictures! (SAC Comment: I kid you not, Liz thought the gardens were so nice, that it actually started making her mad…more than once she started growling as we entered a new part of the garden)

The rest of the day consisted of touring the old Jewish part of town: cemeteries, synagogues, and museums. All men had to wear Yarmulke’s, including Stewart.... so I was pretty entertained (to say the least.)

Having a blast already and can’t believe this is just our first stop! Heading out to eat some delicious Indian food at The Pind (recommended by TripAdvisor and Flyer Talk)….thanks to my tech-saavy boyfriend. Be back soon with some more updates and pics!
Stewart, who did you lose the bet to to require you to wear those shoes?
